SNATCH
3D ANIMATED SHORT

Snatch was created in the summer of 2015 at the University of Texas at Dallas in collaboration with Reel FX Creative Studios. I had the honor of directing the short and providing artistic direction throughout its production.

Throughout the the project I worked with all levels of the animation pipeline, twenty students in total. I approved assets, discussed timing with animators, learned timetables from the team producer, and oversaw the final cut.

 

I was responsible for the original story, storyboards, animatic, color script, and character designs, and also contributed to lighting. It took a huge team effort to create the short over the course of the summer, and I gained invaluable insight into the the 3D animation pipeline.

PushandPull

PUSH AND PULL
VERTICAL SLICE

Push and Pull is a 2.5D side-scrolling puzzle platformer. It used mechanics such as pushing and pulling objects to unlock objectives and navigate the terrain. Development ran from January - May 2015 with a team of 30+ students in UTD's Game Lab course. The team included the full range of the game development pipeline, from modelers and animators to concept artists and level design.

My contributions to the game were character design, level design concepts, an in-game animated comic, character model and animation critiques to remain faithful to the characters and director's vision, and provided bug testing for the game.

I worked closely with the creative director to design the four main characters in the game. Through multiple iterations, director feedback, and team artist input, we arrived at the final concepts.

Storyboards

STORYBOARDS

Through collaboration among groups of 5-6 people, the story beats and composition are decided. The final storyboards are drawn by me.

In High Dive, a girl is bullied into taking the high dive, but discovers it's fun. In GoodBirds, a lonely scarecrow fancies himself a scary gangster until he's put in his place by the titular flock.
